At the CalChess Girls State Championships today, January 30
2016, the Weibel School chess teams once again proved their mettle by winning
all three of the elementary school sections. The K-6 Team, led by the new State Champion
Amy Chan, had the best showing as their players took the first four places. PS:
Amy should also get a first place for the best dimples in the competition. This is the second of the three CalChess State
Championships of the school year that Weibel shined. In December, at the CalChess Grade Level,
Weibel teams took a first place in four of the seven elementary school
sections. I would like to thank all the
Weibel chess teachers and specifically WFM Uyanga Byambaa and WFM Alexandra
Botez for being not just great instructors, but perfect role models for our
girls.
More details and photos will follow as I get the results from the organizer, Ray Orwig.
